How To Search A Whole Film Online
I
In case you wanted to know how to search a whole film on line,
here's how to do it. Let's take my Pat Quinn born in 1865. Go to the
LDS site www.familysearch.org.
Choose Search, then from the left column choose IGI.
Type in Pat Quinn, choose birth, type in 1865, then choose region and country,
then hit enter. Go down to #13 and click on him. (He's the one in
Balla, Mayo)
Now, if you scroll down to the source info, you'll see a Batch No. and source
call no. Clicking on the source call no. will give you a description of
where the data came from, but you want to click on the Batch No.
Another search screen will pop up. From there, you can search that film
for an individual, a surname, or you can search for a county.
I've been searching by Co. Galway, then using my browser's edit function to find
all the births registered in Tuam. The tricky part is being able to
identify the Batch Numbers. Fortunately, the McHugh family of Tuam was
quite prolific, and the surname isn't otherwise very common, so I just look for
McHughs on the main search page, then take note of the Batch Numbers.
Hope the instructions are clear. This will provide you with hours of
entertainment.
